When can I nominate someone for an Excellence Award?

Award nominations open on November 18th, 2025, and close at 11:59 p.m. on January 15th, 2026

Do I need to create an account to submit a nomination?

To nominate someone for an Excellence Award you must create an account on the nomination website. This allows you to edit or add to your nomination at any time during the nomination period. Even after you submit it, you can reopen your nomination and make changes until the closing date.

Do I have to complete my nomination in one sitting?

No. You don't have to complete your nomination in one sitting. You can edit or add to your nomination at any time during the nomination period, and you can even reopen it after submitting to make changes.

Can I nominate more than one person for an Excellence Award?

Yes, you can nominate as many people as you'd like!

Can the same person be nominated multiple years in a row?

Yes, the same person can be nominated year after year. Consider partnering with other people from your site to create a strong nomination.

Who is eligible to receive an award?

Although most awards are open to all Shannex employees, a number are targeted to specific roles or community partners. In addition, employees whose role and function are wholly dedicated to improving a specific area* (i.e. The Health, Safety and Wellness Team to champion Health, Safety and Wellness) are not eligible to receive that specific award.

Each year, our judges have the difficult task of selecting recipients knowing every nomination has merit. If you submitted a nomination in the past (or if an employee was previously nominated) but they were not selected for an award, they are still eligible. Consider re-submitting that nomination again with updated and/or additional information.

*Self-nominations are not permitted.

Can I nominate someone for the Founders Award?

The Founder's Seal of Excellence Award will be presented to the site/team that demonstrates high performance in the following categories: Resident/Patient Satisfaction, Health and Wellness, Financial stability, Employee Engagement/Satisfaction. The winner of the award will be selected annually by a panel of Senior Leadership members and is not open for nominations.

Can I nominate someone for the President's Leadership Award?

By leaning into our core values and consistently demonstrating our Guiding Principles in our everyday work, we live our brand and inspire others to do the same. The President's Leadership Award is presented to an individual that demonstrates excellence in leadership by inspiring others through their positive example and promoting a work environment that is respectful and supportive. They demonstrate a desire to develop their skills and supports the growth and development of others. This award is not open for nominations due to the established criteria.

Can I nominate someone for the Sales Award?

The Shannex Sales Achievement Award is awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence in sales, as determined by their sales achievements, annual planning and bringing to life Shannex's Guiding Principles as they carry about their work. This award is not open for nominations due to the established criteria.

Each year, the Shannex Excellence Awards generates a high volume of quality submissions, reflecting our growth and Great People. Designed to ensure fairness and transparency, the selection process continues to evolve based on feedback and best practices. Who is considered a finalist?

A finalist is someone who has been nominated and has advanced to the final round of selection by the Selection Committee Members. The award winners are chosen from this pool of finalists.

How many awards categories are there?

When will the Excellence Awards be held this year?

This year's awards ceremony will be held during our Great People month in May.

Where will the Excellence Awards be held?

At a location in downtown Halifax.
